Magical Magical
A summer day camp experience Rooted in art and nature
A magical backyard camp program centering on deep reverence for nature and art. Fostering presence in each moment, a love for all things wild and free, and the ability to notice true magic in everything.
Origin STory
I’m Heather! Almost two years ago, my family bought our home. Since then, we have been slowly cleaning up and improving the property. Getting to know this land has brought me great happiness and a sense of security, and my family and I feel so lucky to be tending to and stewarding this space.
I'm inspired by my love for enrichment education, guiding young children, and being able to share this amazing property that I love so much. Now feels like the right time to bring these two avenues of my life together to create a really magical program.
The Space
We have a raised ranch on about an acre of land in the Town of Newburgh. It's about a 12-minute drive to the City of Newburgh and about 20 minutes to Beacon. We are conveniently tucked in on a dead-end road, which backs up to an old farm that magically hasn't yet been developed. Part of our land is wooded where deer, groundhog, turkey, fox, wild cats, coyote, and occasionally a bear family have been seen or tracked in our time here. We also regularly see owls and all the hawks. We feel so lucky to be able to witness all this wildlife!
We have a few cool play areas on the property, a nature slide fixed in the front hill, and a trampoline in the front meadow. On the side-yard, there's a ninja line and swing. In the backyard there’s a sandbox, mud kitchen, a chicken coop, and ample room for games and running around. We have a few large “kid” pools that move around the yard and a sprinkler. And the beautiful “mama pine” tree, which is groomed for climbing and shenanigans. Finally, in the way back behind the wine berries, there's a little sitting area where you can “look at the valley” (as we say). It’s so perfectly magical.

Staffed by experienced adults from our community
We are offering the camps week to week because we understand summer scheduling is bananas. However, we strongly encourage children to attend both weeks of camp to maximize their experience. Summer camp experiences are truly magical, and part of that is establishing a sense of community in the first week.
Daily activities will include the following: Lots of free play at our many curated play stations, circle time, arts and crafts, songs and games, nature discovery, kiddie pools and sprinklers, and meals and snacks together.
We will be outside almost always! We will have a large “tent classroom” set up in case of rain, and we will use the living room, dining room, and kitchen if the weather is truly awful. The bathroom is in the house by way of the back deck door.
